After the news of Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s departure from the network was made public, the women hosts of ABC’s “The View” immediately responded by mocking him.

Carlson’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” first aired on November 14, 2016, in the 7 p.m. time slot until it replaced “The Kelly File,” featuring former Fox News host Megyn Kelly, on January 9, 2017, in the 9 p.m. timeslot. On April 24, 2017, “Tucker Carlson Tonight” took over the 8:00 p.m. time slot of “The O’Reilly Factor” following its cancellation.

“Word has just come down that Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” “View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg informed the audience, precipitating cheering. “They thank him for his service to the network and also prior contributor.”

“Wave,” she instructed the audience.

“We’ll talk more about it tomorrow, but we wanted to make sure that we let you know what was going on,” she concluded.

“Can I ask the audience if they’ll help me do something?” co-host Ana Navarro asked, then turned to the audience, “C’mon folks: Na-na-na-na, na-na na-na. Hey, hey, hey, goodbye.”

Co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in, “I don’t think anyone likes to celebrate the demise of someone’s career, but he is responsible for the degradation, somewhat, that we see, of our democracy in this country.” Then she invoked God as part of Carlson leaving the network, intoning, “And I just think as a faithful person, look at God. Look at God.”

“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” Fox News said in a statement issued Monday. “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”

“Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday April 21,” the statement continued. “Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.”

In May 2022, “The View” co-host Joy Behar declared, “Tucker Carlson has, in a country of 326 million people, he has three million listeners … he’s almost irrelevant.” The previous month, Fox News Channel’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” averaged just over three million viewers per night while “The View” had an average of 2.214 million viewers each day.

In March 2023, “The View” was drawing roughly 2.3 million viewers per week. “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” comparatively, was averaging 3.25 million total viewers per night.
