It has now been 25 full days that Kamala Harris has been the de facto Democratic nominee and has answered zero questions from the media.
You would think that might bother some people in the media.
But no.
This is the untold story of the last 20 years in American politics. Since Barack Obama came onto the national scene, no one in the media has had any curiosity about asking Democrats questions.
That’s how Harris has had 25 days of glowing media coverage, a media massaging her shoulders and bootlicking her at every turn.
During the Bill Clinton presidency, the media broke some pretty major stories, ranging from Travelgate to Chinagate to the Lewinsky scandal. They did their jobs, at least up to a point. They hated George W. Bush, so they did everything they could to cover every small peccadillo in which anyone involved in the Bush family or the Bush circle participated.
Then came Barack Obama. With Obama, the media decided that at long last, their messiah had come, and they were no longer able to ask any questions. In fact, asking questions of Obama would be seen as gauche, might be seen as racist. They didn’t want to do that.
So, instead, they decided to become the full-fledged Praetorian Guard for Obama. And because Barack Obama reshaped the nature of American politics and because the media had spent eight years with their muscles atrophying, they were able to go hard at Donald Trump.
Everything Trump did or did not do became front-page news — four long years of them claiming that just around the next corner loomed evidence that he was a stooge of Vladimir Putin. Everything Trump ever did was the most scandalous thing anyone had ever done.
Then, Trump lost the election in 2020 and the media went right back to that comforting, warm, urine-filled kiddy pool that was the Obama years.

They’re there right now. And they’re enjoying it. They had a three-week intermission where they were forced by circumstance, and by the incompetence of Joe Biden, to do their job.
That had to have been unusual for them, as if they were suddenly hit with volts of electricity and had to get up and walk around.
But it turned out that wasn’t journalism being alive. That was like the experiment with frogs, where you galvanize a frog and suddenly it moves a little bit even though it’s dead. They were dead, but then Kamala Harris came in and suddenly they were just as incurious as they ever were about Barack Obama.
But — the American people know it. The American people know it. They know what the legacy media are. And we just had a prime example.
Monday night, on the Stephen Colbert Show, Colbert had on CNN’s Kaitlan Collins. She was talking about how terrible Trump is, what a terrible job he’s doing, and how Harris has all the momentum.
But then Colbert said, in perfect seriousness, straight-faced, that CNN is objective.
And the crowd — the crowd for Colbert’s shows is invariably to the Left — laughed.
It wasn’t supposed to be a laugh line.
But it was because the media have become such a laughingstock every normal American looks at CNN and sees a Left-wing outlet.

Maybe, just maybe, Harris can’t get away with this. The media are doing their damnedest to help her steal this election, not by changing the votes or rigging the ballot boxes, but by obscuring her record and positions to completely hide every piece of relevant information about her.
Why has Harris been able to switch every position she has ever held to the complete incuriosity of the media? They keep saying, “Well, you know, eventually we’ll get to it.”
The question is: When? We are getting down to crunch time. People are going to start turning in their ballots right now.
Harris has been able to skate completely across the campaign with not even a ripple from the legacy media. They are all trying to play defense for her.
Why? Because they have to. Without them playing defense, they have nothing. She is not a good candidate. She never was a good candidate.
Any half-decent politician can read a speech from a teleprompter. That is not difficult. What is difficult is knowing your own positions, being able to speak to those positions, taking on critics, and facing down controversy.
That’s a hard job. But Harris is not facing down any of that because the media are acting as her Praetorian Guard.
The media’s performance is worthy of Samwise Gamgee in “Lord of the Rings.”
They’re not able to carry the ring of power themselves, but they are able to carry the person who’s carrying the ring of power, Kamala Harris, all the way up that mountain.
